Old Airport Hawker Center | Singapore | Chapter 1

Old Airport Road Hawker Center was built in 1972 for people around the Kallang Estate.

As on today, there are over 150 individual stalls who sells from Baos to Kway theo to prawns noodles to ice kachang to oysters etc :) I’m sure your mouth is already watering ..

How did I get there and how long did it take ?
Nearest MRT is either Dakota which is 5 mins, 350m walking distance from the MRT or Montbatten MRT which is 6 mins, 450m distance. Both comes under Circle Line :)

We started our meal with Popiah (made of wheat flour crepe layers) stuffed with cucumber, peanuts powder and other veggies. One roll has about 5–6 pieces which is sufficient for 2 I would say (2-3 pieces per person). Worth the try and it is light on stomach too making space for other dishes :). A perfect snack ! Price is $2
We had it at stall #01–94 | Homemade Springroll — Springroll Skin | Usually closed on Mondays.

During our exploration, we tried Chendol (An iced sweet dessert that contains droplets of green rice flour jelly, coconut milk and palm sugar syrup) at two different places . Same dish at every stall is different as they have their own uniqueness and version to it.

@Nyonya Chendol |#01–115 : We tried the original Chendol (without red beans). Since we were the last order for the day, she ran out of coconut milk. But still we loved it. This included crushed ice, palm sugar syrup and green flour jelly. Simple and tasty. Price is $1.80

@Ice Desert | #01–31 : They had a different variation of Chendol which included beans, palm seeds ( known as Attap Seeds), palm sugar syrup (Gula Melaka),green rice flour jelly and crushed ice. Price is $2.2

A sheer fluke turns out to be an amazing dessert which we loved and it is Cheng Tng (cold version ofcourse). It includes some dried longan, ginkgo nuts, white fungus, barley etc and not sure if i missed anything more (excuse me for my ignorance). But worth the try !! Price is $2.2

@Lao Fu Zi Fried Kway Teo |#01–12 : Last meal for the day was hogging on some usual Kway They Noodles. It was a spicy version of the usual that i have had in the past. A long queue for this stall ( and why not….they have Michelin star as a feather on the cap !!) was worth the wait. Loaded with oysters and spiced enough to end our Sunday meal. Price is $5
